ABOUT

Who We Are

Andromeda Button Badges started in 2021 when Wanaka mum and business owner, Claire O’Connell, approached graphic designer, Adam Hall, to support her son, Ferdia, in his passsion for digital design.

Because of Ferdia’s diagnosed autism, he requires support with his communication skills. However, his creativity and attention to detail has spawned a great talent for graphics and digital illustration.

A Talent for Design

Ferdia has worked on self initiated projects ranging from Information boards that can be seen at the Wanaka Toy and Transport Museum, writing and illustrating his own series of books, creating whole ranges of illustrated characters and a great deal of flags and maps for imagined countries and worlds.

Pin Button Badges

In 2022 Claire discovered that Ferdia's hundreds of images in circles were actually his designs for pin button badges. So she found a button badge machine online and thought that this might be a great way to take Ferdia’s designs off the laptop and bring them into the local community. Ferdia got to work designing and making a whole range of badge designs and shortly afterwards, along with Adam, he set up a weekly stall at the Wanaka Artisan Market on Thursday afternoons to sell them. The stall has been a great success with locals, tourists and businesses taking a keen interest in Ferdia’s badges.

If you would like to accessorise with an Andromeda Pin Button Badge (or two!) please come and say hi on Thursdays from 2.30pm, in front of the Speights Ale House in Wanaka. Or alternatively, send us an email at andromedabuttonbadges@gmail.com with an order request.
